Studio Teacher Welfare
Employers shall provide a studio teacher on each call for minors from age 15 days to their sixteenth birthday, and for minors from age 16 to 18 years when required for the education of the minor. One studio teacher must be provided for each group of 10 minors or fraction thereof. With respect to minors age 15 days to 16 years, one studio teacher must be provided for each group of 20 minors or fraction thereof on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, or during school vacation periods.
A California Studio Teacher functions as both a teacher and a child welfare worker for child performers on entertainment industry sets. A studio teacher must hold dual teaching certification in California — a California Multiple Subject credential (elementary school) and a Single Subject credential (high school). In addition, the studio teacher must hold a Studio Teacher Credential issued by the California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement.

Studio Teacher/Welfare
Jill is a proud member of IATSE Local 884, a group of studio teachers/welfare workers who are highly certified and have earned dual California teaching credentials, as well as a special set welfare credential from the state. Its members possess a wide range of teaching abilities and are experienced in the supervision and enforcement of child labor laws. They receive in-service training and attend workshops for this specialized work and must renew their certificates regularly. They are experts in anticipating difficulties and avoiding problems, and, while their primary objective is the education and welfare of the children, they also work with companies to advise and protect. They partner together with the Department of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE), producers, and parents to see that laws are enforced for the benefit of the children. The members of 884 are proud to have been the pioneers in this evolving program and continually work toward protecting the health, safety, and morals of all minors working within the entertainment industry.
Child Wrangler
Jill has been dubbed by many as a “Baby Whisperer”. Her sense of play allows for children to become comfortable in their work setting quickly. She is able to immediately read and recognize a baby’s needs and emotions and knows what to do to soothe them and to motivate them. Because Jill understands the monetary value of time on set, having children ready for an action or a mood is her priority and she works closely with the production team to get the shot. Jill is also an advocate and a voice for children, recognizing when a child needs a break, or is too sick, and properly communicates this with a production team. The environment and vibe she sets for the day is delightful and rarely do children want to go home at the end of their “work” day.

Private Tutor
With a passion for education and for helping students reach their goals, Jill is committed to providing personalized instruction to ensure students achieve their highest academic potential. Private tutoring is a service offered to minors working in the entertainment industry, to minors whose parents work and travel within the entertainment industry, to minors who are homeschooled and to those who attend public school. She has several years of experience in providing individualized instruction to students of all ages and learning types.
